COVID-19 Information - ICEDEG 2020

Dear Participants,

We want to share with you some urgent developments related to ICEDEG 2020. 

On March 10, 2020, the University of Buenos Aires (the venue of ICEDEG) has made an important announcement regarding the COVID-19. The statement says that.

“Since our country continues in the containment phase, it is necessary to reinforce the prevention measures, and therefore it is provided that the teaching staff, non-teaching staff, fellows, students, temporary or visiting academic staff, and third parties that provide permanent or temporary non-academic services to the University of Buenos Aires, that have been or were in transit in Germany, China, Korea, Spain, United States of America, France, Iran, Italy, Japan or any other country indicated by the Ministry of Health in the future, must refrain from entering the jurisdiction of the University of Buenos Aires until fifteen (15) days have elapsed from its arrival in the Argentine Republic, although they do not show symptoms of being affected by COVID-19.” Resolution of the University of Buenos Aires.

As you are all aware, COVID-19 has become a global concern of public health. Governments around the world are canceling events, including academic conferences. Therefore, and following the recommendations from the World Health Organization and governments, many educational institutions are imposing restrictions on travel to their staff and students. 

Given that many ICEDEG 2020 participants, keynote speakers, and tutorial and workshop chairs are coming from countries listed above. After much discussion and consideration, the organizing Committee of ICEDEG 2020 has decided to cancel our annual meeting, which was taking place in April 2020 in Buenos Aires. 

It is essential to mention that all accepted papers for which the authors have paid the registration fee will be published and submitted to IEEE Xplore. Besides, we are handling a final assessment of the total expenditures incurred for the conference organization - such as paid air tickets (for keynotes speakers), dissemination materials, and publication of proceedings, among others. Based on the final balance, we will offer a voucher to the registered participants specifying the amount to be discounted on the registration fees for ICEDEG 2021.
